Getting started

What is Forgemoji?

Forgemoji is a free, browser-based AI tool that lets you combine any two emojis into a new kawaii-style illustration. The result is a 256ร—256 transparent PNG you can use as a custom emoji in Discord, Telegram, Slack, and other apps.

Do I need to create an account?

No. Forgemoji is completely free to use without signing up. Your generation history is stored in your own browser's local storage, not on our servers.

How long does a generation take?

Most generations complete in 10โ€“20 seconds. Occasionally the AI pipeline takes slightly longer during peak load โ€” the progress indicator will keep you updated.

Why does the same emoji pair produce different results each time?

Forgemoji uses a generative model, not a lookup table. Every generation is produced fresh from a random seed, so even identical inputs can produce different outputs. Use the Try Again button to explore variations until you find one you like.

Copyright and commercial use

Who owns the images Forgemoji generates?

You do. Forgemoji generates original AI artwork in response to your inputs. The platform makes no copyright claim over the outputs. You are free to download, share, and use them as you see fit.

Can I use Forgemoji outputs commercially?

Yes. Images generated by Forgemoji may be used for commercial purposes โ€” in products, merchandise, social media content, client work, or anywhere else. We do not charge a licensing fee and we do not claim royalties.

One important caveat: the input emojis themselves are Unicode characters whose vendor renderings (Apple, Google, Samsung, etc.) are their respective owners' intellectual property. Forgemoji does not reproduce those vendor designs โ€” it generates new artwork inspired by the concept the emoji represents. If you are using generated output commercially, the output image itself is clear; just do not present it as an official Apple or Google asset.

Does uploading a photo in Custom mode affect my copyright?

No. When you upload a photo, Forgemoji uses it as a style reference for that generation only. The photo is not stored, and the AI-generated output is a new original image rather than a reproduction of your photo. You retain all rights to both your uploaded image and the generated result.

Can I sell stickers or merchandise made with Forgemoji outputs?

Yes. The generated PNG is yours to use. Many users sell custom sticker packs on Telegram, Gumroad, or similar platforms using Forgemoji outputs. We encourage it.

Does Forgemoji train AI models on my inputs or outputs?

No. Your emoji selections and any uploaded photos are used only to fulfil your generation request. They are not retained after delivery and are not used to train or fine-tune any model.

Limits and usage

How many emoji can I generate per day for free?

The free tier allows 5 AI Emoji Mix generations and 2 Custom (photo upload) generations per day. Limits reset at midnight UTC. There is no paid plan at this time โ€” these limits exist to manage infrastructure costs.

What happens if I hit the daily limit?

You will see a message saying the daily free limit has been reached. The limit resets automatically at midnight UTC. You do not need to do anything โ€” just come back the next day.

Is there a way to get more generations?

Not currently. We are considering a paid tier for power users. If this is something you want, email us at hello@forgemoji.com โ€” user demand directly influences our roadmap.

Platform compatibility

What file formats does Forgemoji output?

The primary output is a 256ร—256 transparent PNG. From there you can export an animated GIF or animated WebP using the GIF/WebP panel. GIF has universal support; WebP produces smaller files with transparency on platforms that support it.

Will the PNG work as a Discord custom emoji?

Yes. Discord custom emoji require a PNG or GIF under 256 KB and at most 128ร—128 px. Forgemoji outputs 256ร—256 transparent PNG โ€” Discord will automatically resize it on upload. For animated emoji, export the GIF and upload that instead.

How do I use it in Telegram?

For static stickers, upload the PNG directly. For animated stickers, use the WebP export (Telegram's preferred animated format). Telegram sticker packs require stickers to be 512ร—512 with a transparent background โ€” our transparent PNG is compatible; just resize it in any image editor before uploading.

Does it work in Slack, WhatsApp, and iMessage?

Slack: upload the PNG as a custom workspace emoji (Slack resizes automatically). WhatsApp stickers: use the PNG as the sticker image in a third-party sticker maker app. iMessage stickers: import the PNG into the Stickers app on iPhone.

Privacy and data

Does Forgemoji store my generated images?

Generated images are stored in your browser's local storage (up to 20 entries in the in-app history). They are never uploaded to or stored on our servers. Clearing your browser's site data will remove the history.

Is my uploaded photo stored anywhere?

No. Photos uploaded in Custom mode are sent to the generation API to fulfil the request and are not retained after the response is returned. We do not store, analyse, or share your photos.

Do you use cookies or track me?

Forgemoji uses basic analytics (page views, country, device type) with no personally identifiable data collected. We do not sell data. See the full Privacy Policy for details.

Troubleshooting

My generation failed โ€” what do I do?

Generation failures are usually transient. Wait a few seconds and hit Try Again. If failures persist, try a different emoji pair โ€” occasionally a specific combination triggers content filters in the AI model. If the problem continues, email us at hello@forgemoji.com.

The result looks nothing like the emojis I picked

This can happen with emoji pairs that have very abstract or conflicting concepts. Try Again will use a different random seed and often produces a better result. You can also try more visually concrete emoji (animals, objects, faces) if abstract ones keep producing odd results.

The background was not removed properly

Background removal is an AI process and occasionally leaves a faint halo or misses a small area. Hit Try Again to regenerate from scratch. If a specific result looks almost right, you can paste the PNG into a free tool like remove.bg or Photopea to clean up the edge manually.

The animated GIF is too large to upload to Discord

Try a smaller export size (64 px or 128 px instead of 240 px). Discord custom emoji must be under 256 KB โ€” the 64 px export is almost always within this limit.
